Real Estate Website Redesign
Role: UX Researcher, UI/UX Designer, and Design System Creator.
Challenge
This project involved redesigning a real estate website for a Dubai-based agency. The existing WordPress website had design issues, especially with complex filtering and sorting functionalities. The goal was to simplify the search process and create a user-friendly experience for regular homebuyers, renters, and investors. The website needed a clean, intuitive interface to support efficient apartment searching while also showcasing the agency’s achievements and future property investment opportunities.
Project Goals
The primary goals of this project were to:
- Create a scalable design system that can be easily expanded in the future.
- Simplify the search and filtering process for users to easily find and sort apartments.
- Design a visually appealing and user-friendly interface for both buyers and investors.
- Ensure the design works seamlessly within the limitations of WordPress while supporting future development needs.
Research and Analysis
With no direct client interviews, competitor analysis was essential. The focus was on studying how competitors design their filtering systems, listing cards, and single property pages. This analysis helped identify pain points in current systems, such as overly complex filters, cluttered listing cards, and non-intuitive property details. The goal was to simplify these elements, ensuring ease of use and enhancing the overall user experience.
Concept Sketches and Wireframes
Initial wireframes mapped out the website’s functionality, focusing on essential features like the search bar and filters. These low-fidelity designs helped validate core features early in the process, allowing for adjustments before moving to more detailed designs.
Visual Design
The visual design refined wireframes into a clean, modern interface that was easy to navigate. The design emphasized clarity, aligning with the brand's identity and creating an approachable look for the target audience. Key aspects like typography, color scheme, and imagery were carefully considered.
Prototype
A high-fidelity interactive prototype was created to simulate the website’s flow. This allowed stakeholders to test interactions and user journeys, ensuring alignment with project goals before development began.
or A clickable prototype link was provided to stakeholders, allowing them to explore the website’s design and interactions before development. This helped ensure that the visual design and functionality were aligned with expectations.
High-Fidelity Design
The high-fidelity design presented the polished final look of the website, focusing on responsive layouts and visual consistency. These designs were intended to guide the development team, ensuring the project was implemented according to specifications.
Test Validation and Usability Feedback
The design underwent usability testing with select users. Feedback focused on the effectiveness of the filtering system, the clarity of property cards, and the intuitiveness of the property detail pages. Insights gathered from this phase were used to further refine the design for improved user experience.
Challenge
The main challenge was designing within the technical limitations of WordPress while maintaining a scalable and user-friendly experience. Balancing the client’s needs with WordPress functionality required a careful approach to ensure smooth development and future-proof design.
